Guard My Mouth!

King David said, "Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord..."(Ps 141:3).

Choose your words wisely. Don't let emotions control your tongue, especially anger. You will benefit greatly from speaking the right words at the right time.

Personal note: This is a piece of wisdom that many of us have found to be true. Nevertheless, we have not always followed it. Something we should remember when dealing with others. You might consider cutting a little slack for others that let their mouth run before engaging their brain. Pastor Jim, Alias Bear Truth

Beware of Gossip

Beware of gossip. Don't believe everything you hear and only speak to those thing you know to be true. And -- Some things that are true do not need to be repeated! Try to keep all of your talk about others to things that are uplifting. Do not be deceived and fall into the trap of trying to feel better about yourself by tearing another person down.

A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends. (Proverbs 16:28)

"Every moment of everyday we can see the wonders of His Glory in the patterns of His Wisdom. We only need to look." -Pastor Jim, from For His Glory: A Kaleidoscope of Wisdom

Soft Answers Please

Soft Answers Please
Turning harsh words into soft answers should be your rule for life. The Bible says, "A gentle and quiet spirit is of great worth in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:4) Turn hard words into soft words and see if life doesn't run smoother.

A Note from Pastor Jim:
Jesus said, "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work" (John 9:4). It is our desire to carry the message of hope found in Jesus and share the wisdom and encouragement of his word. You can help in this ministry by sharing our little nuggets of wisdom with others. When you forward Wisdom Tidbits or Share them through Facebook or Twitter to your friends, you allow our ministry to reach out. Please share the hope, encouragement, and wisdom. Thanks.

Take control of your mouth

Take control of your mouth
Take control of your mouth! Nothing will benefit you more and improve your relationship with others more than controlling your mouth. Below are a few of the biblical benefits and reasons for controlling what you say.

From Proverbs 15

1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge,
but the mouths of fools pour out folly.
4 A gentle [or healing] tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge;
not so the hearts of fools [Or the hearts of fools are not steadfast]
23 To make an apt answer is a joy to a man,
and a word in season, how good it is!
28 The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer,
but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.
