Seek to be Meek!

Meekness is strength under control.
Meekness is strength under control.

Meekness is strength under control.  Albert Barnes defines meekness as “patience in the reception of injuries. It is neither meanness, nor a surrender of our rights, nor cowardice; but it is the opposite of sudden anger, of malice, of long-harbored vengeance.”

We practice meekness when we quietly endue injustices for the sake of Christ or when we hold our tongue when we have the right to explode. It is a quality that requires the work of Holy Spirit within us. It is also a characteristic of a mature person. The practice of meekness is especially beneficial in relationships and in leadership. Seek to be meek.

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. (Proverbs 25:28)

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)
