Don't Play the Button Game

Don't play the button game
What are your buttons? What are those sensitive areas of your life that when exposed instantaneously ignites a response? What are those buttons that get an immediate knee-jerk reaction when pushed? Everyone has a few; and they are usually obvious to others, especially those close to us. When conflicts or disagreements occur, you can be assured that buttons will get pushed.

Don’t play the button pushing game on others and don’t allow others to play the game with you. The game never produces a winner and builds walls that are difficult to tear down. Resolve conflict and disagreements by disconnecting the sensitivity wire that connects to your emotions and resist the temptation to push the other person’s button. You will be surprised at how even the biggest disagreements can be resolved.  Share

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. (Proverbs 25:28)

Chill

Chill! The Bible says a quick tempered man is like a city with no protective walls (see Proverbs 25:28). When a person loses his or her temper, they let their emotions control them; and they let their guard down. The devil has a great time with anyone who allows their emotions to control their actions. Before you blow up, take a deep breath and say a quick pray - then chill! You'll be surprised at how much better things will be. Share

"I choose gentleness... Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself." -Max Lucado

Your Gut Is Not Inspired.

Your gut is not inspired. Feelings can be and often are deceiving.  It is much better to listen to God the Holy Spirit as He speaks and directs you from scripture. Solomon sought wisdom and God granted him his wish. It wasn't until he turned from God and listened to feelings and others that he found himself in trouble.

Wisdom, true wisdom, is found in His Word and not in your gut. Let let the Holy Spirit guide you from the word of God and not a gut feeling.
