Abandon

Abandon your will to the will of the Lord. Contentment and peace will be difficult to find as long as you are resolved to have it your way. There is a path that God has for you. It is narrow and may be difficult at times but in the long run it is always best.

Follow the example of Lord Jesus: For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. (John 6:38)

Now none but Christ can satisfy

Looking for peace? Many are! Some seek it more than they do the Lord. The little poem below says a lot!

O Christ, in Thee my soul hath found,

Incomprehensible Peace

^{Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad. 5 Always be gentle with others. The Lord will soon be here. 6 Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. 7 Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. ^{The peace granted from God because of what Jesus did will control the way you think and feel.  Such peace is offered to every believe; but we often do not obtain it because we are not in step with the Holy Spirit.}  

Key To Peace

Trusting in God is the real key to peace – perfect peace. Although trust appears to be simple, it is often difficult for many to put into action. Trust requires a total abandonment of self-reliance and a complete surrender to Lord. Many are not willing to give that kind of control over to God because they lack the faith to do so.

So how do you learn to trust God? I suggest that you start by surrendering a different area of your life each week. For example consider giving you work, finances, home, children and marriage to the Lord, one each week. Consciously and deliberately labor to release control of that area of your life you have surrendered to Lord until you have a peace. Next week choose another area and there are many more. Soon you will find it easier to trust all to God.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)

Melody

The song goes "there's within my heart a melody." Unfortunately the melody within the heart cannot always be heard because of the disharmony of the world; but the melody is always there. It just needs to be amplified, and allowed to make the music it is meant to produce. Let the goodness of the Lord and the love of the Lord drown out the world.  Lead out with a melody in your heart and others will join in the harmony. 


Lord may the melody of love that you have produced in me be heard in a world of disharmony. Amen.

When a man's ways please the Lord...

"When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him" Prov. 16:7

I must see that my ways please the Lord. Even then I shall have enemies; and, perhaps, all the more certainly because I endeavor to do that which is right. But what a promise this is! The Lord will make the wrath of man to praise Him, and abate it so that it shall not distress me.

He can constrain an enemy to desist from harming me, even though he has a mind to do so. This He did with Laban, who pursued Jacob, but did not dare to touch him. Or He can subdue the wrath of the enemy, and make him friendly, as He did with Esau, who met Jacob in a brotherly manner, though Jacob had dreaded that he would smite him and his family with the sword. The Lord can also convert a furious adversary into a brother in Christ, and a fellow-worker, as He did with Saul of Tarsus. Oh, that He would do this in every case where a persecuting spirit appears!

Happy is the man whose enemies are made to be to him what the lions were to Daniel in the den, quiet and companionable! When I meet death, who is called the last enemy, I pray that I may be at peace. Have you experienced the rest?

Now the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side. 1 Kings 5:4.

GOD is the Rest-Giver, When He surrounds us on every side with his protecting care, so that our life resembles one of the cities of the Netherlands in the great war — inaccessible to the foe because surrounded by the waters of the sea, admitted through the sluice — then neither adversary nor evil occurrent can break in, and we are kept in perfect peace, our minds being stayed on God.

"Hidden in the hollow of his blessed hand, Never foe can enter, never traitor stand."

Have you experienced the rest which comes by putting God round about you, on every side — like the light which burns brightly on a windy night because surrounded by its four panes of clear glass! Ah! what a contrast between the third and fourth verse: Wars on every side; Rest on every side. And yet the two are compatible, because the wars expend themselves on God, as the waves on the shingle; and there are far reaches of rest within, like orchards and meadows and pasture-lands beyond the reach of the devastating water.

Out of such rest should come the best work. We are not surprised to find Solomon announcing his purpose to build a house unto the name of the Lord. Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus, anointed Him. Out of quiet hearts arise the greatest resolves; just as from the seclusion of country hamlets have come the greatest warriors, statesmen, and patriots. Men think, foolishly, that the active, ever-moving souls are the strongest. It is not so, however. They expend themselves before the day of trial comes. Give me those who have the power to restrain themselves and wait; these are they that can act with the greatest momentum in the hour of crisis. -F. B. Meyer

Rest in the Lord

Rest in the Lord. WHEN YOU ARE RIGHT WITH GOD ALL IS AT PEACE. Trust Him and relax. God is in control. Daniel could sleep with the lions because he trusted his God. The three children of Israel could stroll in the fire because they walked with the Lord. Paul could sing while in prison because he rested with the Lord. Trust Him and relax.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. -Hebrews 4:9

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. -Proverbs 3:5
