Remain true to core values like honesty, family, and your faith in God. When a person betrays his or her core values, he or she loses a piece of themselves. They are, at best, only part of what they could be. People respect and trust people that hold true to their core values.

Get out of the way! Allow God to bless you! 

God wishes to bless us but often we get in the way by trying to help him. Get out of the way!

When we attempt to help God bless, we actually hinder the work of God.  God doesn't need our help but He does demand our total surrender to Him and His will. Remember God’s answer to the Apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthian 12:9).

They're Watching

And he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, she looked with contempt on her mistress. Genesis 16:4 ESV

When Abram and Sarai decided that they needed to help God out and compromised their faith in the promise of Sarai having a child, Hagar lost all respect for them. 

The world is watching the Christian. When we compromise our faith in Word of God we lose the respect of a confused world that longs for the truth. Believe God’s promises and wait for God to work it out.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14  KJV

You Are In Good Hands*

Life will go much smoother if we remember that we are in God’s care. His providence will prevail; and because we know that God’s desire is for our good, we can rest in peace knowing that eventually everything will work for our good.

Such knowledge is often beyond our understanding; but God has not asked us to understand all of his ways. He has asked us to simply trust Him. His path may take us through deep waters and dark valleys but we need only to keep our eyes on the Lord who shines through the darkness to find the assurance we need. It is God who is in charge. Trust Him! 

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. -Romans 8:28

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? -Matthew 7:11

Who is in charge of your life?

Never forget and always acknowledge the fact that God is in charge. He always is! There is nothing that is not in his control. Although we may not understand all His ways, we must trust in His love and accept His will. This is not always easy; but if you will allow God, He will embrace you with this love and gently guide you through every phase of your life. 

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. -Psalm 73:24 Share

Be Trustworthy

Be trustworthy. Earn the trust of others. Be a person that others can depend on. Few are the number of people who are trustworthy. Strive to be numbered with them. The rewards are many!

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. (Matthew 25:23)

Blessed is she who believed

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Luke1:38 (NKJV)

Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45 (NKJV)

The surrender of Mary to the will of God is one the greatest examples of faith to be found in the Bible.  I dare say few would be willing to allow God to upset their entire life as Mary did.  The most important quality found in her life is she believed.  The core of any person is defined in what they believe. 

Anchor your life by believing in God and do not allow the world or Satan shake your faith.

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
when the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll;
fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love!

The Key Word Confidentially!

Confidentially! If someone has entrusted you with a confidence, then make every effort to keep it. They have entrusted you with a treasure and honored you with their trust. The only exceptions to keeping a confidence is if someone shares that they were going to hurt themselves or someone else or engage in some illegal activity.

People who keep a confidence are few; so take care who you confide in. Follow @pastorbarr

Stand By Your Word

Be a person who stands by his or her word. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Take care not to promise something which you may not be able to do; but if you do, then keep your word. Such people are rare but they have no problem finding respect from others and they walk through life with a clear conscience.

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matthew 5:37

The Grass Outlives the Mower

Today's Wisdom Tidbit comes from a sermon delievered by Charles Spurgeon and is worthy of your consideration. 

“Dust we are and that dust hastens to dissolve, and so to return to the kindred dust of the earth. Under our feet are our graves and above us are the stars, which will soon look down upon our silent tombs. The trees cast their leaves, but they grow green again. We shed our life’s glories once, and they return no more! Thus, the trees outlive us and beneath their shade, we are reminded that man is far more frail than the tree which he fells with the axe. Yes, the very grass that he mows outlives the mower! Man is a mere shadow—we have scarcely time to say that we are before we are not! Are we not foolish if we place our reliance upon such a feeble creature, so weak that his breath, his unsubstantial breath, is essential to his life?

Who are you, O man, that trusts in man? If you have half a grain of wisdom left, how can you quit the ever-living God and put your reliance upon a poor creature who is as the grass, who today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven? The Big Word "IF"

Today I am reading from C. Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotionals. Hope you enjoy this wisdom as much as I did. -Jim

If it is that you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2:3

“If” — then, this is not a matter to be taken for granted concerning everyone of the human race. “If” — then there is a possibility and a probability that some may not have tasted that the Lord is gracious. “If” — then this is not a general but a special mercy; and it is needful to enquire whether we know the grace of God by inward experience. There is no spiritual favour which may not be a matter for heart searching.

But while this should be a matter of earnest and prayerful enquiry, no one ought to be content while there is any such thing as an “if” about his having tasted that the Lord is gracious. A jealous and holy distrust of self may give rise to the question even in the believer’s heart, but the continuance of such a doubt would be an evil indeed. We must not rest without a desperate struggle to clasp the Saviour in the arms of faith, and say, “I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to him.” Do not rest, oh believer, until you have a full assurance of your interest in Jesus. Let nothing satisfy you until, by the infallible witness of the Holy Spirit bearing witness with your spirit, you are certified that you are a child of God. Oh, do not trifle here; let no “perhaps” and “peradventure” and “if” and “maybe” satisfy your soul. Build on eternal verities, and truly build upon them. Get the sure mercies of David, and surely get them. Let your anchor be cast into what is within the veil, and see to it that your soul is linked to the anchor by a cable that will not break. Advance beyond these dreary “ifs”; do not remain any more in the wilderness of doubts and fears; cross the Jordan of distrust, and enter the Canaan of peace, where the Canaanite still lingers, but where the land does not cease to flow with milk and honey.

Rest in the Lord

Rest in the Lord. WHEN YOU ARE RIGHT WITH GOD ALL IS AT PEACE. Trust Him and relax. God is in control. Daniel could sleep with the lions because he trusted his God. The three children of Israel could stroll in the fire because they walked with the Lord. Paul could sing while in prison because he rested with the Lord. Trust Him and relax.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. -Hebrews 4:9

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. -Proverbs 3:5
