Pride is Deceitful

Pride is deceitful. It has caused many to fall. Pride can cause us to lose the proper perspective in almost any situation. Pride can lead to sin and rebellion as it did in Satan. It can also cause us to remain in sin keeping us from confessing our sin. Pride is so deceitful that we often don't realize it has a hold on us. Search your heart carefully and do not let pride be your downfall.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. -Proverbs 16:18

The Key Word Confidentially!

Confidentially! If someone has entrusted you with a confidence, then make every effort to keep it. They have entrusted you with a treasure and honored you with their trust. The only exceptions to keeping a confidence is if someone shares that they were going to hurt themselves or someone else or engage in some illegal activity.

People who keep a confidence are few; so take care who you confide in. Follow @pastorbarr

Take Ownership

Take ownership of your mistakes. Never try to blame others; and never try to cover them up! You will only compound the problem with more mistakes and lose the respect of others. Confess your mistakes. You will be a better person for doing so.

Beware of being hardened!*

Have you allow sin to harden you?*

But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. (Hebrews 3:13 ESV)

Beware of being hardened! Sin, by its very nature, can harden a person’s heart to the truth of God’s word. The longer you remain in sin the more calloused your heart becomes to Holy Spirit. Sin starts to take on an appearance of acceptability and the true ugliness of sin is cloaked in rationalization. The time to resolve sin is as soon as it is revealed and the only means of resolving sin is confession and repentance.

Pouring Out Your Soul*

I have poured out my soul before the Lord. 1 Samuel 1:15.

HANNAH'S soul was full of complaint and grief, which flowed over into her face and made it sorrowful. But when she had poured out her soul before the Lord, emptying out all its bitterness, the peace of God took the place of her soul-anguish, she went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. What a glad exchange! How great the contrast! How much the better for herself, and for her home!

Is your face darkened by the bitterness of your soul? Perhaps the enemy has been vexing you sorely; or there is an unrealized hope, an unfulfilled purpose. in your life; or, perchance, the Lord seems to have forgotten you. Poor sufferer, there is nothing for it but to pour out your soul before the Lord. Empty out its contents in confession and prayer. God knows it all; yet tell Him, as if He knew nothing. "Ye people, pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us." "In everything, by prayer and supplication make your requests known unto God."

As we pour out our bitterness, God pours in his peace. Weeping goes out of one door whilst joy enters at another. We transmit the cup of tears to the Man of Sorrows, and He hands it back to us filled with the blessings of the new covenant. Some day you will come to the spot where you wept and prayed, bringing your offering of praise and thanksgiving. -F. B. Meyer
