Do you want to fit in? You will if you are average. One of the definitions of average is: lacking special distinction, rank, or status…of no exceptional quality or ability. Paul Harvey said “average is the best of the worst and the worst of the best.” So, I will ask you again, “Do you want to fit in? I strongly believe that each individual should establish high expectations*; but the zeal for perfection can be harmful and will defiantly kill productivity. The French writer, historian and philosopher, Voltaire, didn’t get everything right; but he was right on target when he said, “The perfect is the enemy of the good.” A painting would never be finished; and many have gone unfinished, if the artist sought perfection. A book would never be published if the writer insisted on perfection; and a sermon would never be preached. Do your best but do not become fixated on perfection. In his blog, Getting Stuff Done, Hector Cuevas says, “Trying to get everything perfect will stop you from accomplishing anything at all.” Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…” Good works and not perfect works.
