Take the good and leave the bad. 

Everyone you meet today will have something to share with you -- something they will teach you either by words or actions. Only absorb those things that are good and shun those that are bad. Model only the good and choose to leave the bad.


Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1Timothy 4:12)

Resist Perfection

Resist perfection. 

I strongly believe that each individual should establish high expectations*; but the zeal for perfection can be harmful and will defiantly kill productivity.  The French writer, historian and philosopher, Voltaire, didn’t get everything right; but he was right on target when he said, “The perfect is the enemy of the good.” A painting would never be finished; and many have gone unfinished, if the artist sought perfection. A book would never be published if the writer insisted on perfection; and a sermon would never be preached.

Do your best but do not become fixated on perfection.  In his blog, Getting Stuff Done, Hector Cuevas says, “Trying to get everything perfect will stop you from accomplishing anything at all.” Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…” Good works and not perfect works.

Strive to do your best. God has a way of taking our feeble efforts and making them superior!

Cheer Someone to Success!

Be known as an encourager and not a criticizer. The old proverb “You will catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar” is true. People respect and listen to those that encourage them. If you are heavy on encouragement, you will be heard.

Being an encourager is easy if you learn to look for the good in others rather than the faults. This tends to be difficult if you have allowed the world to make you cynical. Nevertheless, you can usually find some good traits in most people that you can use to encourage.

Today's Prayer: Lord allow me to be an encouragement to those I will encounter this day.

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. Romans 14:19

Rejected Kindness*

How you react to a rejected act of kindness is as important as the act of kindness. The Bible teaches us to give expecting nothing in return. When we expect kindness in return for our act of kindness, we have performed that kindness with the wrong motives. Jesus taught us to do our good deeds in secret and our Father in Heaven would do the rewarding.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. -Matthew 6:1-4
