Watch Your...

The following little poem says a lot. I could not find who the author is but the wisdom rings true. ~JB

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

How do you measure up?*

How do you measure up?

A key to living for Jesus is found in Galatians 2:20:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
A. W. Tozer made this observation concerning people who messure up to being "crucified with Christ:"

"People who are crucified with Christ have three distinct marks: 1. they are facing only one direction, 2. they can never turn back, and 3. they no longer have plans of their own." -A. W. Tozer

Coming Out*

Examine your heart devotional
The heart is the true character of a person, and it will eventually show itself. When it does come out, what we see is often scary. Therefore it is wise to examine our heart often and keep it as near to God as possible.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? -Jeremiah 17:9

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. -Proverbs 4:23

You Promised!

You Promised!
Be careful what you promise; but when you do make a promise – keep it. Your word is the means by which others measure your character. A person that is unfaithful in his word is also unreliable in other areas of her or his life. Keep your word.

…let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. –James 5:12

Are You Average?

Do you fit in? Should you?

Do you want to fit in? You will if you are average. One of the definitions of average is: lacking special distinction, rank, or status…of no exceptional quality or ability. Paul Harvey said “average is the best of the worst and the worst of the best.” So, I will ask you again, “Do you want to fit in? First Peter tells us that we “are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” BE EXCEPTIONAL! Average doesn't cut it!

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: -1 Peter 2:9

A Person's Size*

The size of a person is not measured in feet but in their ability to forgive. The only true adult in any group is the one that lets go of bitterness and embraces forgiveness. Stand tall! Forgive!

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. -Col 3:13 ESV

"I had the choice to either grow up and find God in the situation or become bitter. I chose to find God. And I experienced freedom like I never knew before." -Heather Mercer - Christian Aid Worker who was imprisoned in Afghanistan, 2001.

Satan's Tool: Discouragement

The following little story illustrates today's wisdom tidbit which simply put is: Don't let the devil discourage you.

Once upon a time it was announced that the devil was going out of business and would sell all his equipment to those who were willing to pay the price.

On the big day of the sale, all his tools were attractively displayed. There was Envy, Jealousy, Hatred, Malice, Deceit, Sensuality, Pride, Idolatry, and other implements of evil on display. Each of the tools was marked with its own price tag.

Over in the corner by itself was a harmless-looking, wedge-shaped tool very much worn down, but still it bore a higher price than any of the others. Someone asked the devil what it was, and he answered, "That is Discouragement."  The next question came quickly: "And why is it priced so high even though it is plain to see that it is more worn than these others?"

"Because," replied the devil, "it is more useful to me than all these others. I can pry open and get into a man's heart with that when I cannot get near him with any other tool. Once I get inside, I can use him in whatever way suits me best. It is worn well because I use it on everybody I can, and few people even know it belongs to me."

This tool was priced so high that no one could buy it, and to this day it has never been sold. It still belongs to the devil, and he still uses it on mankind. (Author Unknown)

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)
